PEERS: Paris in the Spring Ball

  • Alameda Elks Lodge 2255 Santa Clara Avenue Alameda, CA, 94501 United States (map)

Our dear friends at PEERS present a night on the town with the Lost Generation in swinging 1920's Paris. The exquisite Baguette Quartette plays vintage Bal Musette dance music: romantic waltzes, lively javas, one-steps, fox trots, tangos, sambas, mixers, and even an occasional French polka. The mixers will be taught and called and there will be a 7pm pre-ball workshop in the intimate Bal Musette style of dance!

At intermission the lovely Sara Klotz de Aguilar of Sara & Swingtime will play some of that new American music - Le Swing, Les Blues, and The Charleston - that used to be banned in clubs like this!

1920s or '30s attire, or vintage or modern evening dress is admired but not required. Artists, writers, movie stars, slumming aristocrats and plutocrats - even dangerous Apaches (if they check their weapons at the door or leave them at home).

The event features a no-host bar, a light snack buffet (your potluck finger-food contributions will be appreciated), and a salon for conversation and photography.

Tickets: $20 in advance (by April 29); at the door: $25.
